The Safe Injection Practices Coalition (SIPC) is pleased to announce the release of a toolkit for state and local health departments focused on the One & Only Campaign – a public health campaign aimed at eradicating outbreaks resulting from unsafe injection practices.  This toolkit, entitled It's Real.  It's Recent.  It Could Become Your Problem., was developed to help public health professionals promote safe injection practices in all healthcare settings.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and SIPC worked with three partner state health departments – Nevada State Health Department, New York State Department of Health, and New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services – to develop and test contents of the toolkit.  This toolkit offers suggestions on how to quickly and easily spread the “One Needle, One Syringe, Only One Time” message.  In addition, the toolkit includes injection safety resources from the CDC and the SIPC, including an injection safety educational video, posters, brochures, and other helpful resources.  The toolkit is divided into six specific resource areas:

  • Impacts Related to Unsafe Injection Practices
  • Building a Working Group
  • Developing Partnerships
  • Media/Press Relations
  • What Works? And What Might Not?
  • Key Contacts/Resources
